Forty minutes in our dedicated salt cave, breathing pharmaceutical-grade salt particles that travel deep into the airways, cleansing lungs, calming inflammation, and restoring the respiratory system from the inside out.
Halotherapy (from the Greek halos, meaning salt) is the therapeutic use of salt microparticles dispersed into the air. Modern dry salt therapy originated from the observation that European salt mine workers had remarkably low rates of respiratory disease — a phenomenon now understood through extensive clinical research.
In our salt cave, a halogenerator grinds pharmaceutical-grade sodium chloride into microscopic particles (1–5 microns) and disperses them throughout the room. These ultra-fine particles are small enough to travel deep into the bronchial tree and alveoli, where they deliver antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, and mucolytic effects directly to the lung tissue.
The session requires no effort from you — simply breathe normally, relax in our serene salt-walled room, and allow the salt microclimate to do its work. The therapy is safe, gentle, and suitable for children and adults of all ages.
Halotherapy has documented benefits across respiratory, dermatological, and immune conditions. It is particularly valuable for those living in polluted environments, frequent travellers, and anyone with a history of respiratory illness.
Salt microparticles work through four distinct biological mechanisms, each contributing to the therapy's well-documented respiratory and dermatological effects.
Salt is hygroscopic — it draws water into the airways. This thins and loosens mucus, making it easier to clear. Particularly effective for chronic congestion, sinusitis, and conditions where excess mucus obstructs breathing.
Sodium chloride creates a hypertonic environment that disrupts the cell membranes of bacteria and fungi. Regular sessions reduce the bacterial load in the airways and on the skin, supporting both respiratory and dermatological health.
Salt particles reduce inflammation in the bronchial walls, reducing airway reactivity in asthma, and calming inflammatory skin conditions including eczema and psoriasis. Effects are cumulative over a course of sessions.
Regular halotherapy has been shown to modulate the immune response in the respiratory tract, reducing hypersensitivity and allergic reactivity. Particularly beneficial for those with allergic asthma, hay fever, and seasonal respiratory symptoms.
Salt particles that land on exposed skin provide gentle mechanical exfoliation, removing dead skin cells and encouraging cellular turnover. Combined with the antibacterial effect, this improves skin clarity, texture, and overall appearance.
The negatively charged salt ions in the air have a documented calming effect on the nervous system, promoting parasympathetic activation. Many guests use salt therapy for stress, anxiety, and sleep improvement alongside the physical benefits.
A halotherapy session at Eden is a deeply restorative experience. The room is serene, the air is clean, and the only requirement is that you relax and breathe.
Remove shoes before entering. Wear comfortable clothing you don't mind getting a fine salt mist on. The room is cool and calm — perfect for stillness.
Take a seat in one of the reclined teak chairs. The halogenerator activates, beginning to disperse pharmaceutical-grade salt microparticles throughout the room.
Simply breathe normally. You may read, meditate, or rest. Some guests notice a slight taste of salt — this is the particles working. Up to 7 guests can share the space.
Drink water after your session to support the mucolytic process. Some guests experience mild coughing or increased mucus in the first day — this is the salt doing its work.
At 290,000 IDR, halotherapy is one of the most accessible therapies at Eden. Book a standalone session, or add it to any programme for respiratory and immune support throughout your stay.
